ZenRows vs SignalShelf: social data endpoints instead of a generic scraper

ZenRows is a general-purpose scraping API: you give it a URL, it gets past blocks and returns HTML, Markdown or auto-extracted JSON. SignalShelf gives you endpoints that already return social and web data as JSON.

At a glance

Their numbers are quoted from ZenRows’s public pages, read 3 November 2026. Ours are from our pricing page and our own benchmark. Unknown means the figure isn’t published.

Where ZenRows is stronger

Any site, with a persistent browser for logins and multi-step flows.

Markdown output suited to LLM pipelines, and a permanent free tier.

Cheap basic pages at volume (about $0.08 per 1k on the $999 plan).

Why switch from ZenRows

Fields, not pages: follower counts, posts, comments and reviews come back as named JSON fields. No selectors to maintain.

One price per call (most endpoints 1 credit) instead of multipliers for protected sites like social platforms.

Same paths and JSON as ScrapeCreators, so existing integrations port over.

No platform logins: everything we serve is public, logged-out data.

How to switch

1. Create a free account and API key: 1,000 credits, no card · earn 5,000 more.

2. Map each target URL pattern to an endpoint, e.g. instagram.com/<handle> → /v1/instagram/profile?handle=<handle>.

3. Replace your extraction code with field reads from our JSON.

4. Keep ZenRows for sites outside our coverage.

Anything we don’t serve yet returns a clear error and costs 0 credits, so you can run both side by side while you move over.

FAQ

Is SignalShelf cheaper than ZenRows?

On protected social sites, often: ZenRows charges up to 25 credits per page with JS rendering and premium proxies (read 3 Nov 2026), and you still parse the result. For easy, static pages, ZenRows’ basic credit is cheaper.

Does SignalShelf return Markdown?

No. We return structured JSON.

Is SignalShelf faster than ZenRows?

We haven’t timed ZenRows, so we don’t claim it. The only provider we have speed-tested is ScrapeCreators: median 1.44 s for us vs 3.96 s for them on 119 endpoints (3 Nov 2026). The method and raw data are on our benchmark page, so you can run the same check against ZenRows yourself.

Can I pay for SignalShelf today?

Yes. Start with 1,000 free credits + 5,000 to earn, then buy a one-time pack by card, PayPal or UPI. Credits never expire.
